Breaking the Girls
Breaking the Girls is an erotic crime thriller movie
released in 2013. This film is written by Mark Distefano, Guinevere Turner and
directed by Jamie Babbit. The main roles of Breaking the Girls are played by Shawn
Ashmore, Agnes Bruckner (whom we saw also in The Pact), Madeline Zima, Shanna Collins and Kate Levering.
Breaking the Girls is about a girl who gets a new friend
all of a sudden and gets very intimate with her. Then she tries to find a way
out of the scene where she is framed for a murder by her that new friend.
Plot:
Sara is just a regular girl who is studying law. At the
evening, she works in a bar. She has a crush on a guy, but that guy’s
girlfriend always seeks for opportunity to humiliate her. At one evening, a
beautiful and rich girl named Alex comes to the bar and Sara saves her from an
irritating boy. Sara and Alex soon becomes friends and after drinking, Alex
become unstable to drive herself home, so Sara takes Alex home in Alex’s high
valued car.
Alex sees Sara’s embarrassment about her crash and then
takes Sara to a high class party. Sara’s crush and his girlfriend are there at
that party, but for coming with Alex, Sara is in a better situation here. At
that party, Sara also meets Alex’s stepmother. Later on, Alex, Sara and her
crush come together Alex’s house and they start making out, but after sometime,
the two girls make out, leaving Sara’s Crush.
Next morning, Alex tells Sara about her affection to Sara. Later
on, after going to class, Sara finds that her scholarship has been cancelled
and her crush’s girlfriend has used her connection to do it. Sara gets mad and
then threatens that girl. Then Alex comes there and takes Sara for a ride. Then
she takes Sara to her parent’s home where she grew up. It is also the place
where her mother died in a pool.
At night, Alex’s father and her stepmother comes home while
Alex and Sara are there. Alex’s father scolds Alex for her behavior. Then Alex
tells Sara how her friend has become her stepmother by seducing her father and
now enjoying his wealth. Later on that night, Alex proposes Sara to kill Alex’s
stepmother and in return, Alex will kill Sara’s crush’s girlfriend. In this
way, none of their motives will be known by police.
Sara takes the proposal as a joke. But few days later, Alex
kills that girl. Considering her threat to that girl few days ago, Sara becomes
a suspect. A police officer comes to interrogate Sara, but Alex gives her alibi.
Sara becomes terrified and leaves Alex’s home. She moves in with her crush, who
is now her boyfriend.
But Alex keeps pushing her, so at one point she goes to Alex’s
parents’ house with a gun in hand. But there she finds the dead body of Alex’s
father. Meanwhile, someone else has tipped police about her, so reaching there,
police finds Sara at the crime scene. They take Sara to station and Alex comes
there and gives false statement against Sara, which puts Sara into jail.
Later, Sara’s professor and her boyfriend come to the police
station and take her out. Then Sara moves in with her boyfriend. Then we see that,
Alex and her stepmother have planned the whole thing. They have killed Alex’s
father to get all property which they will divide themselves and framed Sara
for it. Alex also has some sexual relation with her.
In the next few days, Alex finds some connection between
that lady and Sara. She starts to get suspicious. On another side, Sara seeks
for revenge on Alex for framing her. Finally she plans to get her revenge.
Can Sara prove her innocence? Is she really innocent? Will the identity of the true criminal gets
revealed? Lets watch the movie to get
the answers.
My reviews about Breaking the Girls:
First of all, I liked this movie.
The plot of Breaking the Girls is good and interesting. The ending
is has a big twist, which is perfect for a thriller. What happened at the
ending was hard to predict, specially the identity of Alex’s stepmother was
impossible to guess. The ending has made the movie really interesting. The twist
of plot at the end of Breaking the Girls is pretty balanced, its not too much twist
like what we saw in the Wild Things series, where it seemed irritating.
The acting of almost
all the characters of Breaking the Girls seemed good, except Madeline Zima. Somehow, her acting
didn’t seem all natural. But all other artists were very good fit according to
their characters. Agnes Bruckner looked amazing throughout the movie.
The makeups and dialogues of Breaking the Girls are very
good. The screenplay and directions are also impressive.
What this movie lacked badly was some nude scenes. The lesbian
relation between Alex and others is a big part of Breaking the Girls. But this
movie has absolutely no frontal nudity. The appeal of an erotic thriller movie
surely decreases with the lack of enough nudity.
Although I’ve said it has is no frontal nudity, but the
nature of Breaking the Girls has made it not suitable for kids.
So, overall, I’ve enjoyed watching Breaking the Girls. Although
the lack of nudity is on the negative side of this movie, but the combination
of good plot, good acting and good screenplay has made this movie enjoyable. I’d
recommend all movie lovers to watch Breaking the Girls.
