Plot:
The story of Captain America: The Winter Soldier starts at two years after the big fight of The Avengers at New York. Steve (Captain America) is trying to get used to the modern lifestyle. Once he is sent to a mission by S.H.I.E.L.D. to rescue some high ranked agents from terrorist. In that mission, Steve finds agent Romanoff (Black Widow) trying to steal some data from the terrorist with a flash drive.

Steve comes back to director Fury in S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarter. He then learns about the project Insight of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is designed to to eliminate all terrorism threats from earth by using satellite controlled guns. Fury fails to retrieve data from the flash drive of Romanoff and gets suspicious. He is then attacked by the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, who try to kill him. Finally Fury manages to take shelter at Steve's house.

After coming home, Steve finds Fury there. Fury hands him the flash drive and warns him not to trust anyone. Then Fury gets shot by an assassin. Steve chases the assassin, but he escapes. Steve also finds that his next door neighbour is an undercover secret agent, who is appointed by Fury to protect Steve. On the next day, Fury dies in the surgery table. Romanoff tells Steve about the assassin, who is known as “The Winter Soldier”.

S.H.I.E.L.D. high official Pierce calls Steve and asks him about his last conversation with Fury. Steve doesn't cooperate. Then the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents tries to capture Steve, but he escapes. He then meets Romanoff, who helps him to escape from the search. Their flash drive leads them to an abandoned bunker, which is the birthplace of S.H.I.E.L.D. There, with that flash drive, they find the existence of Zola (a villain from the prequel). Zola tells them how Hydra has infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. Steve and Romanoff escapes from there just before a missile shot by S.H.I.E.L.D. destroys that bunker.

They then goes to Steve's friend Sam's (Falcon) house, who, after learning all these, agrees to cooperate with them. They then interrogates another S.H.I.E.L.D. high official, and learns that Hydra, by infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D., is planning to kill all of its enemies by using Project Insight.

On their way back from there, Steve, Romanoff and Sam again get attacked by the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. This time, the Winter Soldier is leading the attach. At one time, Steve recognizes the Winter Soldier as Bucky, his best friend, who was apparently killed in a mission with him. They get caught by the S.H.I.E.L.D., but a good agent who is not a member of Hydra, saves them and brings them back to a secret location.

Steve (Captain America) now knows Hydra's plan. But can he stop it? He knows, with the help of Sam and Romanoff, he has to stop Hydra from using Project Insight, even at the price of his own life. But how will he deal with Bucky, his best friend? What can they do when the top most agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are members of Hydra? Can dead Fury come to any help? Let's watch the movie to know the answers.

My review about the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier:
First of all, I really liked the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The plot of this movie was great. It will seem extraordinary good considering its a superhero movie. On most of the superhero movies, for example, The Amazing Spiderman, the plot stays very simple. But Captain America: The Winter Soldier has a complex plot with some political involvements, which make the movie deep and interesting. Although the ending is predictable, but that will not make you feel boring. The direction and screenplay of this movie will also seem fabulous.

All of the main and side characters of Captain America: The Winter Soldier are well reputed artists and everyone have acted well here. The dialogues are also great. You will find no imperfection with the make ups and the costume designs. Here the costume of Captain America is a little different from the prequel, but it looks nice. The lighting, set designs, camera works and special effects were very impressive. The music and sound effects were also good.

The only thing the director missed to show in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, as it was a story after two years from the New York incident, why Captain America didn't call for The Avengers when all of their lives were at risk.

There was no scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which can restrict the kids from watching this movie.

Now, if you haven't already watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier, then I have two tips for you. First, don't stop watching when the end credits start. It has two in credit sequences, which will give a teaser for the next Captain America or The Avengers movie. Second, remember that this movie is full of Easter eggs, that is, stuffs hidden throughout the movie. You will be able to find most of them if you are a big fan of the comics. But if you are not, please do a google search on “Captain America: The Winter Soldier Easter eggs” after finishing the movie (as most of them will have spoilers). Even if you are not a fan of the comics of this series, but still knowing the background plots or predictions will surely amaze you.

After seeing one of the end credit sequence, I got happy to guess that, there could be a chance to bring the X-men characters with The Avengers. But after reading about the Easter eggs, I found that it is never going to happen, as the two company holds the copyright of those two sets of characters. How sad!

So, overall, Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a great movie. You will like it even if you are not a big fan of superhero movies. I will definitely recommend watching it to all movie fans.

300: Rise of an Empire Movie Review

300: Rise of an Empire

300: Rise of an Empire is an action drama fantasy movie released in March, 2014. As anyone can guess, this is the sequel of the epic film ‘300’. It is based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes. 300: Rise of an Empire is written by Zack Snyder, Kurt Johnstad and Frank Miller and directed by Noam Murro. The major characters of this film are played by Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, David Wenham, Rodrigo Santoro, Jack O'Connell and Andrew Tiernan.

300: Rise of an Empire tells the story which happened before, during and after the story of its prequel 300 and the Greeks' attempts to stop the Persians from taking their homeland.

Eva Green and Sullivan Stapleton in a scene of 300: Rise of an Empire

Plot:

The plot of 300: Rise of an Empire starts 10 years before the battle happened in 300. The Persians came to conquer Greece, but they got defeated by the superior tactics of Greek general Themistocles. In that battle, Themistocles kills the Persian king, who was the father of the next king, Xerxes. Xerxes comes back to his land and with the help of his father’s naval commander, Artemisia, gains his power and emerged as the ‘God King’. Artemisia was a cruel but extraordinary intelligent warrior and general of the navy, who had a shady past and was seeking her revenge on the Greeks.

10 years later, Xerxes is now again invading Greece. Themistocles manages to convince all the states of Greece to provide him ships, with which, he will stop the Persian army at the sea. He then goes to seek help from Sparta, where he learns that the Spartan king Leonidas is consulting the oracles. He comes back to his town. With the help of his friend who also works as a spy and infiltrates the Persian troops, Themistocles learns the nature of Artemisia.

Themistocles, with his troops and ships, comes face to face with Artemisia’s troops in the sea. For the first two attacks, Themistocles successfully stops the Persians from advancing and with his brilliant tactics, make the Persians retreat. The Persian army loses a good number of soldiers, where Themistocles loses only a few men.

Impressed with Themistocles’s intelligence, Artemisia invites him to her ship. She uses sex to convince him to join her team as her second-in-command. Themistocles refuses and he is sent back to the land without any harm. But he knows that Artemisia has become mad and next day they are going to face a very tough battle.

He was not wrong. On the next day, Artemisia uses her brute force and maximum of her powers to destroy the Greek ships. Both side faces heavy losses and believing that Themistocles has died, Artemisia retreats with her troops, where Themistocles is luckily saved.

On the land, Xerxes has already killed king Leonidas and has started to destroy Greek cities. Themistocles visits mourning queen Gorgo (king Leonidas’s wife) of Sparta and again asks for her assistance, where she again refuses. Before leaving, Themistocles hands her king Leonidas’s sword and asks her to avenge him.

Meanwhile, Artemisia learns that Themistocles is still alive and is again preparing for a battle. She starts for that battle without her king Xerxes’s consent. They have a little argument between them.

Themistocles’s soldiers are depressed by their loss and the refusal of their call of assistance by the Spartans. But as a perfect leader, Themistocles inspires them to fight and take their revenge. He also makes some special arrangement for himself in his ship to use on the battle. So, with his troops, he comes face to face again with Artemisia.

My review about the movie 300: Rise of an Empire:

I liked this movie, but not as much as its prequel, 300. If you are a big fan of 300, this one may even disappoint you.

The plot of 300: Rise of an Empire was good. But if you are interested to learn about what happened after 300 ends, here is the first disappointment. This one also ends without giving an exact result of the war between the Persians and the Greeks. Just like its prequel, 300: Rise of an Empire ends within the war without telling us the fate about the Greeks.

The cinematography of 300: Rise of an Empire was also good, but not as good as 300. The use of fantasy was also less, we didn’t see much of the gigantic creatures or magic.

The acting of all the characters were good. Specially, Eva Green’s performance was outstanding. Her character was also so powerful and important that several times, it felt like she was the leading character of 300: Rise of an Empire. But none other characters were as charming as the characters of 300. Almost none of the charms of the character of king Leonidas were here at the character of the hero Themistocles. His character was also not as strong as that of king Leonidas of 300. Even king Xerxes’s and queen Gorgo’s character in 300: Rise of an Empire did not seem as powerful as we saw in the prequel.

But what I missed most in 300: Rise of an Empire was the epic dialogues from 300. Although the dialogues were good, but they were nowhere near the epicness of the dialogues of 300. I really missed something like “Tonight we dine in hell”, “Madness? This is Sparta!”, “Give them nothing, but take from them everything”.

The use of special effects also seemed inferior in 300: Rise of an Empire than its sequel. Most of the special effects were limited to showing bloods in slow motion.

There are a few nude scenes in 300: Rise of an Empire. For those and other gore scenes, this is not a movie you can watch with kids.

I think if the director thought that the success of the movie 300 came only for its plot, acting and cinematography, but not for its characters and dialogues, then he has made a mistake. I loved the whole movie 300 for its art and everything from the beginning to the end seemed very artistic to me including the fighting, the gore scenes, the nude scenes and so on. But the sequel 300: Rise of an Empire lacked severely in the art.

But don't get me wrong, 300: Rise of an Empire is still a good movie, but it falls behind if you compare it with its prequel. If you are fan of 300, then you must watch 300: Rise of an Empire. Even if you feel a little disappointed, but you will not feel you time wasted by watching it.

I, Frankenstein Movie Review

I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein is a fantasy action thriller movie released in 2014. This movie is written by Stuart Beattie and Kevin Grevioux and directed by Stuart Beattie. The character Frankenstein is the same as the monster created by British author Mary Shelley in her famous novel 'Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus'. The major characters of the movie I, Frankenstein are played by Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto and Jai Courtney.

I, Frankenstein tells the story of the monster Frankenstein, who runs away and then comes back to the society in the modern world. He then gets caught between the fight of the demons and the angels.

A scene from the movie I, Frankenstein by ocean's movie reviews
A scene from the movie I, Frankenstein

Plot:

I, Frankenstein starts from the almost the same place where the novel Frankenstein ends. The difference is, here Victor Frankenstein heads to the arctic regions with his monster, where he dies. The monster comes back carrying Victor's dead body to the civilization. There he buries the body and just after that, some demons attack him. He is saved by some gargoyles. The gargoyles bring him back to their home. Here the queen of the gargoyles names him 'Adam' and tells him about their purpose in the earth.

She also tells him about demons and about their fight with them. They ask Adam to stay and fight with them, but Adam refuses. Adam takes some weapons and runs away from civilization. He stays alone for two centuries, but all these times the demons are trying to capture him. So to get rid of them, he finally comes back to civilization to hunt the demons himself.

He goes to a nightclub and there he kills some demons. Then the gargoyles again bring him to their home. In the meantime, we see the demon leader disguised as a human, who has appointed two scientists to bring life back to the deaths, the experiments which was done by Victor Frankenstein. Victor's journal (which is with Adam now) or Adam is very crucial for his experiments, to study and to come to a positive result.

The demon leader learns that Adam is now at the gargoyles' place, so he sends an army to catch him. The demons have a big fight with the gargoyles, which kills some on the most important gargoyle soldiers and also a lot of demons. The demons capture gargoyle queen and take her as a hostage. From a demon, Adam learns that she will be released if Adam or Victor's journal is given to the demons.

Adam frees the gargoyle queen in exchange of the journal. He then follows a demon and goes to their headquarter. There he sees thousands of dead bodies are kept by the demons. Then he meets the demon leader, who tells Adam his masterplan, which is to bring life (actually, demon spirit) to all these dead bodies and make an army, with which, he will rule the earth. Adam then retrives the journal and leaves that place.

The demons leader sends a demon to capture Adam. Adam takes help from the lady scientist of the demon leader, who trusts Adam after seeing the demon herself. Adam kills that demon and goes into hiding. He also warns the gargoyles about the demon's plan. Seeing the danger of mankind, the gargoyle queen sends her highest gargoyle to kill Adam. But finally Adam kills him and then he destroys the journal.

Adam is now a common enemy of both of the demons and the gargoyles. The demons want to capture and study him where the gargoyles want to kill him for the safety of the mankind. The gargoyles led by their queen chase Adam and he runs to the demons' headquarter, which puts the demons and the gargoyle army face to face.

My review about the movie I, Frankenstein :

I, Frankenstein seemed like just a very average movie.

The plot of I, Frankenstein was interesting but very predictable. It didn't give any exciting ending at all. The direction and the screenplay was very average.

The acting of all the major characters of I, Frankenstein were okay. The dialogues were also very average, neither bad nor nothing special. I think, it would seem better if a little more importance was given to the character of the lady scientist. The make ups in I, Frankenstein were good, specially the make up of Adam. But considering all other characters, the make ups of the demons (in their demon form) should have been better.

The special effects and the animations of I, Frankenstein were very impressive. Specially the gargoyles looked really good. The lighting and the camera works were also good for most of the parts.

Some concepts of I, Frankenstein looked really unrealistic, even for a fantasy film. For example, after roaming in the uncivilized regions of the earth for 200 years, how come Adam knew the roads and the exact place where he could get a lead on the demons? How come so much actions could go around causing the crashing of cars and buildings without alerting any human at all?

I, Frankenstein does not contain any nude or gore scene, so you can watch it safely with children.

So, finally, I, Frankenstein didn't seem like an enjoyable movie. You can enjoy this movie for the special effects or some of the action scenes, but not the plot or anything else. Although it has an average IMDB rating of 5.4 (while I'm writing this), but I think that is overrated. I will not recommend to watch I, Frankenstein to anyone. But if you have enough time to kill, watching I, Frankenstein won't waste your time.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Movie Review

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is an American-German action horror fantasy film released in 2013. This movie is co-written and directed by Tommy Wirkola and produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Kevin Messick and Beau Flynn. The movie was filmed in Germany. The title roles of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters are played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton. Famke Janssen, Pihla Viitala, Peter Stormare, Derek Mears, Thomas Mann and Rainer Bock has played other important roles. Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was also released in 3D.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is about a brother and a sister who hunt witches and at one of their mission, they find a huge challenge to kill the leader of the witches, which also brings some truth about the siblings' identity.

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton in  Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters

Plot:
The plot of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters starts when two siblings, Hansel and Gretel were kids. One night, suddenly, their father takes them to a jungle and leaves them there. While wandering around, they find a house made of candy. They enter that house and find a witch inside. The witch tries to kill them, but they fight the witch and finally kill her. Later on, the brother and sister duo, Hansel and Gretel becomes professional and renowned witch hunters.

One day, in a small town where small kids were going missing, a lady is caught for the allegation of witchcraft and the sheriff is about to execute her. Just then, Hansel and Gretel appears. They are hired by that town’s mayor to solve the problem of witches. Hansel checks her and confirms that she is not a witch. Then, when Hansel and Gretel starts to look for the witches, the sheriff also sends a group of men to the jungle at night for the same reason. All of the members of that group get killed by the grand witch. Hansel and Gretel catches a witch, and by interrogating her, they learn that the witch leader is preparing for a grand ritual, for which, she needs to sacrifice six boys and six girls each born at separate months. Hansel and Gretel also finds a teenage fan of them in the town, who himself also keeps knowledge about witches.

Suddenly, the grand witch, with her team, attacks the town and takes their targeted kid. Hansel and Gretel try to fight them. While fighting, Gretel gets hit and becomes unconscious. Later on, she is brought to safety and gets taken care of by their teenage fan. Hansel follows another witch to the jungle, but also gets hit.

The next morning, the lady they saved earlier, finds Hansel and helps him to get healed. In the meantime, Gretel searches the jungle for her brother and gets caught by the sheriff and his team. They beat her, but she gets saved by a somewhat human-like creature named troll. The troll takes Gretel to a safe place and helps her. When Gretel asks him for the reason why he has helped her, he replies that troll saves witches and then he leaves. Then Hansel and Gretel reunite at their old childhood home. To their wonder, they find the place as a witch’s layer. Then the grand witch comes there and tells them about their past. She tells them the identity of their mother, how their parent died and also reveals that Gretel is a white witch herself. Then they start to fight and again, the grand witch defeats Hansel and Gretel and abducts Gretel for her grand ritual.

Again, when Hansel wakes up, he finds that lady whom they saved. Then she says that she is also a white witch. Next, they gather all their weapons and the lady blesses them. Then, Hansel, that lady and Hansel and Gretel’s teenage fanboy from the town head for the place where the grand ritual was taking place.

The last part of the movie is about their attempt to save Gretel and the kidnapped children and about Hansel and Gretel’s challenge to take revenge on the grand witch.

My review about Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters:
First of all, I felt disappointed after watching Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Actually, seeing the trailer and posters and most importantly, considering the casting, I had a very high expectation about this movie. But Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has totally failed to keep up with my expectation. Both of Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton has grown a good reputation for themselves already and I don’t understand why they had to act in this movie.

The weakest part of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is its plot. The plot is too weak and simple to satisfy the movie lovers. While keeping everything as they are, just a more sophisticated plot could make Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters far, far better. And needless to say, it was pretty predictable. Its not that every movie has to have some twist in the plot, but at least it could be better than two siblings who are witch hunters, learns their past and then go on their mission.

And several unnecessary scenes of violence also add up to the negative side of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. The director could do better without them.

But on the good side of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters  the acting and dialogues are good. Same goes for the make-ups. The witches also looked okay, where the troll looked like the “Ogre” from the animation ‘Shrek”. The location also looked good and the weapons looked old styled but fashionable.

This movie features a small scene of nudity. So considering it and the violence, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is not a movie for kids.

The special effects are also good, although they felt insufficient. A little more use of special effects would look good on this movie.

So, overall, although Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has a better than average IMDB rating of 6.1 (while I’m writing this review), I didn’t like this movie. You can consider watching it by considering its casting, but I will not recommend Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters to anyone who is looking for good movie to have some time spent pleasantly.

How much did you like Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters? Feel free to comment.

The Amazing Spider Man Movie Review

The Amazing Spider Man

The Amazing Spider-Man is an American superhero film (like Captain America: The Winter Soldier) released in 2012. As we all know, this movie is based on the famous Marvel Comics character “Spider-Man”.  The Amazing Spider Man is the fourth movie of this Spider -Man series, but after the third, this one starts again from the very beginning of the original story, thus serving as a reboot. This movie is written by James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves, directed by Marc Webb and starred by Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. This movie is released also in 3D.

In The Amazing Spider-Man, we see how Peter Parker becomes the Spider Man, his struggles before and after his transformation and how he faces the villain, Lizard Man.

A scene from the movie The Amazing Spider Man by Ocean's Movie Reviews
A scene from the movie The Amazing Spider Man

Plot:
The plot of The Amazing Spider-Man starts when Peter Parker was a kid. One night, in a hurry, Peter’s father takes Peter to Uncle Ben and Aunt May’s house and leaves him there taking Peter’s mother with him. They never returned. Their fate was not shown at that time of the movie.

Peter grew up to a teenager. In his school, he was regularly bullied by some other teens. He always carried a camera with him as he was fond of photography. But one day, some bullies beat him and break his camera when he refuses to take photos of those boys bullying another student. This incident also helps him to earn respect from beautiful Gwen.

One day Peter accidentally discovers his father’s secret documents. From his uncle Ben, he learns that his father was working with Dr. Curt Connors of Oscorp and then we see how his parents died. To learn more, Peter goes to Oscorp and enters there taking the identity of an intern. Then he sees Gwen from his school is taking the interns to a tour in Oscorp and he mixes with that team. Soon, with his brilliance, he gets noticed by Dr. Curt Connors, who, at that time, is working on cross species genetic exchange to cure the human from different disease. Dr. Connors' target is to cure the head of Oscorp and also to get his arm back.

Peter gets detached from the intern group and sneaks into a special lab, where he gets bitten by some exceptional type of spiders. His suspicious activities get caught by Gwen and she throws him away from the group. While returning home, he starts to feel his extraordinary abilities.

Soon Peter learns to control and use his new abilities and teaches the bullies at his school a lesson. Peter also meets Dr. Connors in his house and gives him some clue (which he has found from his father’s research) to complete his unfinished research. Peter gives Dr. Connors his identity and starts to help him with his research, which finally brings the success to regenerate an arm of a mouse. But after returning, Peter gets scolded by his uncle Ben for forgetting his responsibility. Angrily, Peter leaves the house and his uncle follows to search for him. In a store, he meets a thief who helps him, but accidentally kills uncle Ben. Peter finds the body of his uncle. Peter also realizes that it was him, who saw the thief stealing and had let him go. Later on, police gave him some clues about that thief.

Peter starts to beat up criminals to find that thief. From a painting on a gym’s wall, he gets inspired to make a costume. He makes that costume and also creates some kind of machine to shoot web from his wrist.
In the meantime, Dr. Connors’ boss pressures him to apply his newly found serum on human. When Dr. Connors rejects, his boss threatens him that he will shut down the whole project and also says, Peter’s father also didn’t agree to test his medicine on human. Out of desperation, Dr. Connors applies the serum on himself and turns into a big human-lizard.

Peter goes to Gwen’s house to attend her invitation and finds that, Gwen’s father is the police chief, who is looking for spider-man. They both had a little argument on the dinner table. After the dinner, Peter reveals his identity (as spider-man) to Gwen and they kiss. Then he hears police siren and Gwen’s dad rushes to a bridge where the lizard-man attacks. Peter also rushes there and saves some people.

On the next few days, Peter does some research and finds a possible hiding place of the lizard-man in the sewer. He then fights the lizard, but loses and escapes from there. Peter tells the police chief about the identity of the lizard-man, but he doesn’t trust him completely. The lizard man (Dr. Connors) learns Spider-Man’s identity from his camera and attacks his school to stop him, but Spider-Man again saves the students.  Later, he finds the plan of the lizard-man, that is, to use a special machine of Oscorp to convert all the people of the city to a stronger version of human, i.e., lizard-man.

The next part of the movie is about the plan of the lizard-man and the attempts of the spider-man to stop him.

My Review about The Amazing Spider-Man:
First of all, I liked The Amazing Spider-Man. Although I didn’t find it mind-blowing or extra-ordinary amazing, but I still liked it.

The plot of The Amazing Spider-Man is simple and pretty predictable. Almost all of us know the story of Spider-Man, like what happened to his uncle, how he got transformed etc, and this movie gives no surprise. The ending is also very predictable.

The dialogues are okay, not bad or nothing special. I didn’t like the acting of Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spider-Man. I mean, his acting was not bad at all, but to me, he seemed too smart to be a kid who is regularly being bullied by his classmates. Here I missed Tobey Maguire, who’s innocent (and sometimes, confused) face and beautiful acting matched perfectly with the character he was playing in Spider-Man (part 1). The acting of all other characters of The Amazing Spider-Man were also good, but again I missed beautiful Kirsten Dunst. I’m not complaining about the artists here, I just missed the old ones.

The make-ups are good, except for the lizard-man. To me, it looked funny, not the image of a scary villain. Here in The Amazing Spider-Man the villain is not evil, his intentions were not bad, but harmful and wrong. He himself is a tragic hero.

The special effects are very good in The Amazing Spider-Man. Specially, the continuous shot in the action scene in the school where the Spider-Man was running over the lizard all around it trying to put it in nets looked awesome. All other flying and action scenes also looked beautiful.

At the last parts of the The Amazing Spider-Man, I was really hoping to see some more lizards after the lizard -man used gas on some police, but there was nothing like that. I think it could be a good addition to the movie.

To all Spider-Man fans, The Amazing Spider-Man should come as a big relief after the last part (part 3) of the previous Spider-Man series, the series which started with an amazing movie but kept getting worse at each sequel.

If you think after watching pervious three movies, there is nothing new to watch in The Amazing Spider-Man, you’ll make a wrong guess. There are a lot of differences in this movie with the previous one. For example, The Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man doesn’t enjoy public fame like the previous one, here he doesn’t have a photo-journalism career, here webs doesn’t come out of his hands, he makes an electronics device for that and here he hunts criminals for his personal vendetta, not to help people. In this movie, most of the Spider-Man’s moves are also different.

In my judgment, between Spider-Man (part one) and The Amazing Spider-Man, I’ll keep Spider-Man (part 1) on top. But The Amazing Spider-Man has a great potential and I’m looking forward to enjoy The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Whatever, The Amazing Spider-Man is still a nice movie. An IMDB rating of 7.1 supports it. By watching this movie, I felt my time nicely spent. If you are a Spider-Man fan or a superhero movie fan, I’d recommend The Amazing Spider-Man to you.

Mirror Mirror Movie Review

Mirror Mirror

We all have seen different adaptations of the famous story of Snow White by Brothers Grimm and Mirror Mirror is another of them. It is released in 2012. This movie is directed by Tarsem Singh and  starred by  Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer, Nathan Lane, and Sean Bean.

Mirror Mirror tells the story of the Snow White and the seven dwarfs, and the evil stepmother of Snow White who plans to kill her

Plot:
Snow White is a princess, who’s mother dies at childbirth. Her father loves her very much and raises her. When she was a child, her father marries another woman. He leaves the castle for a fight and never returns, which, at one point, puts Snow’s new mother as the ruler of the country as the queen.

Snow White grows up to her teenage and wants to visit the land. But she can never go beyond the strict regulations of the queen. The queen never allows her to go outside the castle. Then we can see the greedy nature of the queen. She always lives in her royal comforts, where the costs for those come from the poor people’s taxes.

One day, Snow White manages to go outside the castle. While passing the jungle (which is rumored to be haunted by a mysterious beast) she meets a prince along the way, who is robbed by some dwarfs. Snow White goes to the nearby town and finds the people’s sad condition. In the meantime, the prince reaches the castle and meets the queen. By noticing his smartness and wealth, the queen falls in love of the prince. She throws a ball to amaze the prince, but secretly Snow White joins the ball. But Snow white gets caught by queen and the queen orders her servant to take Snow White to the jungle and to feed her to the beasts. The servant releases Snow White in the jungle and Snow White ends up at the cabin of the dwarfs.

At first she finds it a little hard to gain the dwarf’s trust, but soon they love her and she helps them to gain the love and acceptance of regular people. The prince meets Snow White and informs the queen that she is alive.

Being angry, the queen uses her spell and turns her servant into a cockroach. She then uses another spell to make the prince fall in love for her, which creates a ‘puppy love’ in the prince for her. Bound by the spell, the prince agrees to marry her.

Then the queen uses another of the dark magic to kill Snow White and the dwarfs. But Snow white defeats them. Then she, with the dwarfs, crashes the queen’s wedding party and kidnaps the prince. At the dwarfs’ cabin, she breaks the prince’s spell.

Next part of the story is about Snow White’s confronting the queen and bring happiness to the kingdom.

Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer in Mirror Mirror by Ocean's Movie Reviews
Julia Roberts and Armie Hammer in Mirror Mirror

My reviews about the movie Mirror Mirror:
First of all, I’ll say, I’ve enjoyed watching Mirror Mirror.

If you are looking for a serious movie, Mirror Mirror will disappoint you. This movie is a childish and funny movie, it is made to enjoy in a light mood. It was very pleasant and lighthearted. We know about “Snow White and The Huntsman” which is made on almost same plot as this one and is a rather serious one, but Mirror Mirror gives you a complete different feeling than that one and I must admit, watching Mirror Mirror feels better.

The plot of Mirror Mirror is nothing new, almost everyone who is reading this blog knows the story of Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, so you may find very little twist in the plot. The direction and the screenplay were also good.

The dialogues in Mirror Mirror are good, specially of the dwarfs’. The dwarfs here are very funny characters and pleasant to watch (unlike the ones from the Snow White and The Huntsman). But other dialogues are also a good fit for a comedy movie.

Acting of all the characters are also good enough in Mirror Mirror. There is no question about the acting capabilities of Julia Roberts, and in this movie, she has done no injustice to her name and reputation. Although Lily Collins has not done a big number of movies, but I loved her acting in Mirror Mirror, pretty fluent and charming. Other characters has also played their parts well, no over-acting or lack of expressions.

The special effects are okay too for a fantasy film.

There is no nudity or violent scene, so feel free to watch Mirror Mirror with children.

So, finally, as I said, I liked Mirror Mirror  But remember, this movie is a light childish movie, don’t look for much depth or seriousness in it. If you are looking for a movie to lighten your heart, I’d definitely recommend it. Other than that, Mirror Mirror a nice one, watch it.

What do you think of this movie? Feel free to comment.

Life of Pi Movie Review

Life of Pi

Life of Pi is an American fantasy drama film directed by Ang Lee. It was released on the year 2012. This movie is based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name. The leading characters of Life of Pi are played by Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, GĂ©rard Depardieu, Tabu, and Adil Hussain.

The movie Life of Pi is about the journey of a boy who has to survive alone in the middle of a sea on a boat, where his only companion is a Royal Bengal Tiger. This movie is in English, but the plot is based on an Indian boy with his local cultures and values, like what we saw in the drama movie Trishna

Plot:
The movie Life of Pi  starts with a conversation between the adult Pi and a tourist. Pi tells him about his childhood and how he gets the name “Pi”. Pi’s father owned a zoo and since childhood, Pi is familiar with the animals. One incident about a tiger is shown particularly from his childhood, as that experience has some special importance for the rest of the movie.

One day, when Pi is 16, Pi’s father decided to close the zoo and sell the zoo animals to some American buyers. His father also plans to settle in Canada. So few days later they start their journey in a Japanese ship, taking all the animals with them. Their ship falls in danger on a stormy night. Pi want to save this family, but the crews of the ship throw him in a lifeboat. The ship sinks and Pi, along with a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena and a tiger ends up in that lifeboat. Gradually Pi loses companion and the last two survivors are Pi and that tiger.

Pi’s struggle for life starts from here. His challenges are to keep himself alive in the sea and to stay as far as possible from the tiger, again, to keep himself alive. Luckily, he finds some supplies in the lifeboat.
The next part of the movie is all about his journey and struggle. On the way, he finds different technique and has various experiences like a strange killer island, flying fishes, gigantic whale and so on.

My Reviews about Life of Pi:
First of all, it’s a beautiful piece of work. I guess everyone will enjoy watching Life of Pi.

The plot of Life of Pi is exceptional and enjoyable. Although, at the beginning of the movie, you can see that Pi has survived, but this movie was never about the ending. Its all about the journey.

The acting of all characters is good enough.

The special effects of Life of Pi are beautiful. Several time I wondered how they managed to shoot the scenes, specially the scenes with the man and the tiger on the same boat. The other effects like the sinking ship, the strange island, the whale, the lighting sea creatures, the flying fishes and everything else are a pure pleasure to watch in Life of Pi.

The best thing about Life of Pi is its cinematography. All scenes are played really well. The mixture of good dialogues, good make-up, beautiful acting and splendid special effects and animations have made it beautiful. The director has put special efforts to make you enjoy the scenic beauty of the nature throughout the movie Life of Pi. And these efforts are a complete success. Even if the plot or the acting was not good like this, I’d still enjoy watching this movie just for the beautiful scenes.

There is no nudity in the whole movie, so everyone can watch it. Life of Pi has a very little romantic story, which ends before the journey of the ship starts.

And “Life of Pi” also gives its own philosophy about religion and life. May be, some of them can make you think.

The only thing I didn’t like about the movie Life of Pi is the accent. No offence to anyone, but personally, I’m not a big fan of Indian English accent.

Overall, any movie lover should love Life of Pi. So I’d recommend it as a ‘must see’ for all the movie fans.
